Oh the cold's been settling into Vancouver this past week!
This means I've been dumping the salads and sandwiches in favor of warmer things to lunch on and there are plenty of warm things to eat in the neighborhood.
I like to support small business and so I took a chance on a place I've been eyeing for while but never tried. The Kanata Chowder House is at 812 West Broadway near Willow. It's a tiny little place with a great selection of soups, sandwiches and stews. I popped in for lunch one day and after much humming and hawing over the scabble-tiled menu (very charming) I settled on the Irish stew.
Nothing could have hit the spot better that day! It was thick and chunky with a definite hint of Guiness. They served it up quick with a thick slab of french bread, butter and a little fruit and veggies.
The staff was very courteous, very friendly and very service-minded. I highly recommend this little place. :)
